A normal pregnancy is 40 weeks long, plus or minus 2 weeks. It is not necessarily a good idea to try and encourage labour to start early, since it could lead to your baby being born too soon, with possible health repercussions. Some baby's just take longer to bake, and normally they will come when they are ready to come- which I know is little consolation when you are getting frustrated with being pregnant. it is perfectly normal to be 39 weeks and no sign of labour starting.
If you do go overdue and your midwife agrees that it is a good idea to try and get things moving, all the things you mentioned above are anecdotally known as ways to start labour off. Castor oil I think is not recommended any more. Pineapple I think it not recommended during pregnancy because there is something in it that may cause premature labour, but I suspect you might have to have a lot to get it to work. You might be offered a 'stretch and sweep' which is where the midwife separated the bag of waters from the cervix, which sometimes causes labour to start. Otherwise breaking the waters is sometimes used, or prostoglandin pessaries or oxytocic drugs. I would expect that none of these techniques would normally be used before 40 weeks though.
Good luck! I hope all goes well for you and your baby.

I know how you're feeling right now. I am in exactly the same boat. I have also done all the usual old wives tales (except the castor oil) but to let you know about the pineapple - the amount of bromeline even in fresh pineapple is not enough - you would need to eat 7 or 8 which will give a severe dose of the squits unfortunately. One other thing I have heard of but not tried is massage with clary sage oil, I think it is about 10 drops into some carrier oil - look online and see if there is a specific amount recommended. Good luck. I am seeing my OB on wednesday and hoping to go in soon after.

don't worry
there are quite a few ways to do this naturally, niple stimulation is very good but you will get sore niples, stimulate your niples for atleast an hour 3-4 times a day,
homeopathic remedies
pulsatilla 1m take it once a day for 3 days
sabina 200 take once a day for 3 days (and also as soon as your baby is born
caulophyllum 200 take this at regular intervals after you have taken the other remedies you can safely take all of these remedies, with the last ask your partner to look at your cervix daily it should look very big, if this is so then its working,
caulophyllum my partner took 2 a day for 3 days on the 3rd day she took it every hour that night she went into labour
avoid drinking coffee and don't use mint tooth paste
by the way the baby might come very quick the midwife arrived at my house 2 minutes before our baby was born her head was out.
I would not normally give any advise on what remedy to use but this time I will, good luck
if you can see a homeopathic doctor even better a omeopathic midwife

The average is 40 weeks, so your a bit early to be panicking. Sign of modern times, people always want it NOW!! I can't wait an extra week, nor two.I want it now.
Enjoy your time, do the things that you won't be doing for a long time, like reading a book, or watching a film. Going for a manicure, wandering around shops without wondering if the baby will sleep, or wake up. And did you bring a spare nappy/diaper have you got enough milk? etc etc
PS My first was 41 weeks and I was medically induced! NOT pleasant. Good Luck

So... you'll push for university when still in infant school then?
Let your child choose its time and nature time it for your body, unless you want to end up with complications, try relaxing patiently, then when those muscles start to realise you are not fighting all the time, bingo... they will feel free to do the job!
Ever sat on the loo pushing hard and getting nowhere? Then had a warm cup of tea and relaxed into your bed, or chair, then suddenly you had to go, and did? Same thing!
It's all about allowing the body to feel free of stress, from within your mind... where signals send all the right hormones to start the labour off!
Stop whinging... let your child and body relax... let nature choose as she has done since time began for humans!
Mum of six... now in their 20s, late 30s, early 40s... who knows the score;-)

Pregnancy is 40 weeks. You are not 40 weeks yet. Doctors won't let you go past 42 weeks. So just calm down and let the baby pick its own birthday. No point in forcing the issue. Either way, you'll have a baby in your arms within 3 weeks. I know it sounds like forever, but its not.

if you've tried all that, well.... it's bad news because that's all the legit stuff (and some not legit....spicy food won't do it and pineapple??????????? never even heard that one!) you've got 2 choices, wait it out or try it all over again, especially the walking, sex, and nipple stimulation.
either way, you don't have long to go, the little one will be here soon! goodluck!

Raspberry Leaf tea is not a good idea at any time during pregnancy. I would stick with the curry's, the hotter the better.

Know how you feel. If it's your first then the likelihood is it will be 'overdue' .... no matter what you do, your baby will come when it's ready. All you can do is take it easy, especially if it's your first as life will never be the same again ... get lots of sleep now!!
