If you are flying into Iran it is possible for most nationalities except Brits, Americans, Canadians and Israelis to get a 7 day visa on the border..

I was also told by Iranian friends it is possible to get a 3 day transit visa on any land border... but they could not verify that...


I think you must apply for a visa.. To get a visa you must get authorisation code.. The easiest way is by applying to an Iranian travel agency who gets authorisation for you for about 30 euros..than you go to the embassy to pick it up..

Alternatively the Iranian embassy has a list of local approved agents..Where you can get the authorisation from..
To get authorisation using either method takes about 2 weeks..


Here are some tips to get a quicker visa.. My visa took only 2 days , and it was for 90 days...

1)The reason for needing authorisation is basically corruption..I booked 2 nights accommodation in Tehran, through the embassy..and they gave me a visa very quickly because of this.. I know other people who have done the same... One of the agencies on the list given by the embassy will do this for you.;.

2)If women wear the head scarf when in the embassy.. or are Muslim...it is easier to get one quicker..And if you say that you want to visit Imam Reza's tomb...this will help alot too. Iranians are very interested to see people interested in Islam :-))



Also some embassies are easier than other to apply for visa..
For you if you make travels between Turkey and India the best place to apply is..ERZURUM near the Turkish Iranian border..
I know that there getting a visa is very easy, and many have not even needed authorisation..

Once you are inside Iran it is very easy to extend your visa.. You can do it at any local police station and it takes just 10 minutes..
I recommend you do this because there is lots to see in Iran :-)))

I don't know if there is an easy way. Your best option is to contact the embassy. They'll be the ones who will process your visa.
