I have noticed that the World Cup of Soccer seems to aggravate the ill will of fans towards the teams of the other nations, often to the point of violence, even when teams had players from many nations. Rather than improving relations in the spirit of camaraderie, the Cup seems to have done the opposite.
Perhaps I am seeing too much in this, but in fact it is blatant racism and I don't see how anything good will come of it other than improve the show's ratings.
The world is getting more and more divided. Terrorism. rival religious groups, political systems, tribal or clan groups, economic systems, and gangs all contribute to the increasing tension in the world.
How can a rivalry based on race do anything but cause more tension? Whoever wins or loses, their win or loss will be tainted racist comments such as [insert racial epithet] always cheat, or [insert racial epithet] lost because they are just too stupid, or [insert racial epithet] won because the producers were afraid of a boycott!
:-( Ratings are not worth it.

I think the concept is very cool - they are always trying something new - and obviously these people don't have a problem with the way it's set up, so why should we?
The Asian race is the only race that has yet to win on Survivor...
There is always a lack of diversity: all to young, not enough ugly people, not enough older people, no minorities, too many minorities, too fat, too skinny.... then you hear: the challenges are designed for skinny people, no.... strong people, no... people that can swim - the complaints are endless...
But 1 things still holds true - whoever wins the car, loses the game...
I can't wait for it to start... either way we need a true villian again like Johnny Fairplay!

I know they are trying to get better ratings and all.I just can't understand why they chose to do it by using the racial diversity strategy.I'm sorry but I am sick and tired of the so called networks using their power to try and force their own ideas down my throat.I have been an avid watcher of Survivor since the very first show but this year I can't in all good conscience watch this season of Survivor.I do not think I can tolerate the dividing of four races into their own separate groups. Now if they had them already seperated into four groups of mixed races then I think I could have handled watching the show.

I'm not a racist, but I really dont care. Jeff Probst said that it doesnt matter how the tribes are divided, it matters who is on your side. Can you trust them? Do I have the votes?
I've watched the season sence season 2 and their hasnt benn alot of divercity in the cast. This give some people what they wanted.
I feel bad for NY because they might not get to watch it.
What a shame. All this controversy over a reality show.

This show lost me the first season....I can watch people behaving badly at work and get paid for it...I'd want to see this in my living room...why? (Which is my commentary on ALL "reality" programming, quite frankly)
As to this...it's a ratings ploy. Just like when they separated the tribes into men and women. If they wanted more diversity, then they needed to bring in more diverse people, but the dividing the tribes up along racial borders...smacks of blatant manipulation.
Stupid thing is...people will watch it.

I think they are deliberately attempting to create controversy by using deliberately provocative selection of the contestants. It is being done for RATINGS but the whole thing could blow up in their faces, as it is coming across as being phenomenally RACIST. I think they are nuts to do this, but I can understand why, and that show being that show there will probably be some twist to it that the contestants are not aware of, where they will mix up the races so that blacks are with asians, hispanics are with whites, etc. On the whole, however, I think it is ridiculous.

As a black person, it is my prerogative to say that I can't think for all minorities. But as an individual, I feel that this is both a social experiment and a way to boost ratings. While no harm is intended, this will cause both controversy and maybe poke the flames of hatred lying in the hearts of ignorant people, but I'm tuning in next season.

Hmm... tough issue...
I think it depends on how it is done. If they do it in a stereotypical way, then I think it would be wrong. But other than that, there really shouldn't be much of an impact. At best, it may bring about a broader sense of brotherhood amongst the contestants.
In fact, I wonder how it would go down?

I am concerned about cries of racism and elitism.
Why is this show still on the air?
