There could be an infinite number of planets in the universe since there are an infinite number of stars, any of which can have planets. They are discovering extrasolar planets on a regular basis now. If you want the KNOWN number of planets, you will need to look further than my answer.

We have no idea. In our solar system there are 8/9 depending on your deffinition. We have evidence of at least 150 planets around other stars. But in total? we have no idea....
