I was suppose to go out of town with family/friends this weekend but I recently started a job less than a month ago and they wouldn't let me off. I tried asking my boss if it was still possible to ask for a couple days off or give my shifts away. My boss agreed that I could give them away if I found someone. So I found someone, 5-6 days before the trip we made a contract saying that I gave my 2 shifts to her but 1 day before the trip they tell me that she can't take my shifts. Now I have a big problem. My other boss said he would try his best to get someone to cover for me but he couldn't, my only options were to call in sick or go to work. I had an arguement with my parents yatta(x2). The day of the trip we start to leave. Before we leave my parents said I could stay home. I love my parents. The night before I kept thinking I was going to get fired, I couldn't sleep & getting fired is my #1 fear.
Did I do the right thing by staying home and not going on the trip?

Don't worry about your decision too much, it seems like you made the right call.

No parents would put their kids on the spot to choose a career over just a day with them, that would be too selfish and egocentric.

Beside, I'm sure your parents would want you have have a stable job that you are happy with. I don't think you're parents would be happy to see you suffer because you choose to spend a few days with them and that made you to lose your job.

Parents are happy when their kids do well, so I don't think they would be happy if you lose your job and went unemployed because of them.

There is no right or wrong decision. A decision may be right today, but one month down the road it may be wrong because of changed circumstances.
So do not worry too much about it. What is past is over. Just go on with your life! Your parents will understand your decision, as most parents do.

You should have went with your family...Some day they wont always be there. Did you ever think that something could have gone wrong and you were needed...Next time stop thinking of yourself and think of others. And by others i don't mean your job...YOUR job that YOU make money at I'm talking about your family.
Good Luck In the Future

You did the right thing by staying home. You secured job security espcially after being there less than a month.

Of course. Work is more important than holiday. Is it easy to get another job if you get fired?

Always put your job before anything else.

Yes, your parents should not have put you on a spot like that.
