Contact you local housing authority they should have a list of PLs and might suggestions provide the answer.
Richard O and other answer above say it all.
Look for a Housing Association, not private.

i am a private landlord in the peterborough area but will never accept housing benefit as had so many problems with the housing benefit office, not the tennants though as they were great, but i do allow dogs in my houses, always check with how much benefit you will receive as these offices seem to chance their minds frequently

i rent a house privatly from a estate agents, took my a few months to find one though, i emailed alot of estate agents with what i was looking for , how many will be living there, included pets and what i was prepared to pay per month, alot said no but i did find a house this way

All the landlords in that area that I know of insist upon some form of cash- none that I know of accept dogs instead, no matter how private they are.

go to your local council or housing assiation with a pvt landlord you are not realy protected ive been there and ended up homeless
