When you can't think of anyone else that you would rather spend the rest of your life with. When you can only think of that person and only that person. When it hurts because you miss them when they leave that kinda stuff. If not wait until you feel it is completely right! Good Luck!

One of you has to propose. This traditionally was the gentleman's role. Then, be engaged for one or two years and see how this works out. Then, plan a wedding (simple or complex) and become married. Make sure that you are financially stable first (you do not have to be rich but able to live on your own.)

You will know it in your heart. Some of us lived together first, in my case 3 years before getting married. One morning we were eating breakfast and he just looked at me and said let's do something different today and I said ok and we went and got married. We knew we would eventually but it just seemed to be the right time. My Mom said she knew the first time she laid eyes on Dad that they were right for each other, that was 53 years ago and they are still together.

I guess it just depends when you are both ready. I have been with my boyfriend for 5.5 yrs and he just proposed on Monday. Being young to might have something to do it, many people are afraid of marriage until they mature. My boyfriend originally thought marriage was stupid and just a piece of paper but throughout time he came around.

after 18 months he should have said he loves you and asked this already. If he hasnt I wouldnt still be around. First time I got married after two months. Second time took two years due to both of us needing divorces. If you know he loves you tell him its now or never or Im gone...

Go through a pre-maritial counseling session with your soon to be husband (or wife) to deal with whatever type of baggage either one of you may have that might cause a divorce later on. Nobody's relationship is perfect but if you can fix anything now do it. Your marriage will last longer if you do.

When you financially ready to live independently.
When you are ready to have children of your own.
When both of you sincerely want to be married and feel that your partner is the right one for you.

Not all relationships have to end in marriage. I've been with my guy 8 ½ years, we are both in our mid-late 30s and if it happens sometimes it happens. If not, it doesn't change a thing about our relationship.
