From what we see on the US media, we are fed almost daily only with the most outrages views on Islam, like that muslims are all opressers of women, or the latest Bush ultimato that try to link islam with facism though that even Italians deny that link!
Why is it that there is not much attention is being given to the bright side of Islam, like that it shares alot of values with Christianity, like the belief in all biblical prophets, or that the acceptance of Jesus,for example?
Is it that people in Charge do not know about Islam?
Or Is it because those people like to push people to live in fear to invoke their vision about putting both sides in a war that would be of their benefit?
Or is it that they view Islam as a threat? A threat for people, or a threth to the Imperialist hegemony desire or what?
Or if you see a better answer, please let us know..

The United States is in constant need of an enemy. It used be Russia for the longest time but, since the fall of communism we need a new enemy in order to scare our population with to gain support for our foreign policies.
The American media is no way an independent and ethical journalism. This was obvious since after September 11 up until things started to go really wrong in Iraq.
If the media showed the reality of Islam, many Americans would have a tough time believing all the propaganda to fight the war on terror.
1989 the collapse of communism, 1991 the first attack on American target by Al Qaeda. If that doesn't raise suspicion, I don't know what does.
One fifth of the world's population follows Islam, If it was such a violent religion, how come there is only a few hundreds belonging to radical groups? How come there hasn't been a massive attack by millions of Muslims against the west? We have a bout 8 million Muslims living in the US and so far the government failed to arrest anybody who had anything to do with the attacks on September 11 or "real" ties to Alqaeda.
If the media talked about it, what do you think the support for this war would be?

My baby brother converted. I don't understand because, I too, only see the negative side of Islam. Knowledge is power, though. So, those that have the positive insight into Islam need to teach the rest of the world. This way we can see Islam in a different light. Until then, people won't understand and they will assume that Islam is the spread of evildoers.

I don't know about Islam, but people are afraid of them for the behavior of a few- So they want to kill them!!! But they re not afraid of other religions for the behavior of a few, because they are familiar with them!!!!

Because the bad side is a threat not the good side.Its the same about any thing in the spot light,always bad teenagers,blacks,Mexicans etc.Good news doesn't sell.

Terrorist attacks and women being burned etc, are always more senational than positve stories so this is what the media will focus on. Sad but true, I am sure AlJezeera is the same.

because the majority of americans don't diferentiate between islam/muslims and terrorists which is a shame...My husband is American and because I don't agree with Israel and the U.S. he actually thinks I'm pro-terrorist...not such the brain my husband but I beleive that's the popular belief in the states...
