We found small leeches and wonder how they found their way
to our pond.

We caught a few and checked them out on the net.
Also one was attached to my husbands leg after
he went in the shallow end of the pond to clear some debris.

from fish, plants or visiting birds I always have some in my ponds Best way to eliminate is to get a parasite control
treat your pond then re-treat again in a few days to get any eggs that hatched

I have placed several rocks and plants into my pond from the river and now I also have leaches and a few other critters that hitched a ride. I even found a baby snapping turtle about the size of a 50 cent piece that totally took me by surprise.

Hmmm? Need more info! Seems maybe ur not moving enough water.....any fish? Of all the time i`ve been doing ponds, never had any with leeches; to get rid of them try `EcoRx` parasite control.

My guess is that they came in on aquatic plants introduced into your pond or on the feet of wading birds such as egrets, which may visit your pond. I have also seen leeches on aquatic turtles so if you have one of those then that too may be a source.

Hope this helps.
