I was at my friend Tamara's house yesterday. Her family is very Christian and usually nice. Her mom overheard me say "b***sh**" and swatted me from behind with a wooden spoon and said I should watch my language when I am a guest in someone else's home. I was so startled I said the "s***" word and she swatted me again. I told her she had no right to do that and she was like well I am lucky I am not her daughter otherwise she would "tan my hide and wash out my mouth with soap." So I said well I am glad you're not my mom. Then she asked me to leave until I learn some manners and respect and she called my dad. She also told him I dress inappropriately, like my clothes are too tight and stuff. Now I am grounded tonight and tomorrow afternoon. My dad wants me to apologize to her. I am thinking maybe but it would be very embarrassing and maybe she should apologize to me too? I really like Tamara and want to be able to go over there sometimes and not have it be weird.

It is common courtesy that when you are in someone else's house, you have to follow the rules practiced in that house!
If that word cannot be used in that house, then don't use it. Period.
Secondly don't you think you ought to have respect for your friend's mother? By showing no respect, you are also showing no respect for your friend. So I agree with your dad. You should apologise to her, if you want to continue going to that house. You have to learn some humility. You will live a happier life if you have respect for others, because then others will respect you!

Maybe I am old fashion on this issue, but the adults are right on this one. Your peers might support you, but me personally I would not want a girlfriend who has a trash mouth. People know you by the way you speak and dress. If you talk and dress like a prostitute, that is how people will see you and think of you. Why do you need to cuss? Why do you need to dress like a hoochie coochie mama. It is an old term for a hussy. By the way, guys that are decent and successful in life want a woman that is refined and has class. Not trash that cusses and dresses like a street walker. Forget what people in Hollywood do. That isn't reality, nor all of these so called gangsta videos. That is trash. Your dad should have grounded you for a week for having a foul mouth.

I would apologize to her for disrespecting her home and beliefs. BUT, I would also let her know that not everyone shares her beliefs and the next time she touches me I will call the police and show her the beliefs of the law. And your dad should be all over her for giving you a check slap.
