Put traps along the wall with peanut butter as bait.
Check outside for places they can breed.
Put guards around openings at the bottom of the doors and other holes where they can get in.
Keep food picked up and trash cans sealed.

Depending on where you live the only way to get rid of mice for good is with a cat. Cat's are no problem and a lot better to have around then mice.

You can buy those little packets with a tablet inside. They are for clothes and to put in wardrobes and other cabinets. Mice and insects do not like the smell and will not go near it. It doesnt smell at all to humans though. Try looking for some of that stuff. Another way is buying mice traps made from cardboard. it is sticky like glue and all you have to do is put a little food in the middle, and wait till the next morning. Then you will see some mice trying to free themselfs from it the next morning!

We have an older house and we found that putting cream cheese on the lever of the mousetrap does wonders. Don't use hard cheese as the mouse can lift it off the trap. I put our traps at the base of the cupboards where the mice travel. Also I make sure our cat likes mice.
We have not have any problems with mice in several months since we have had our 2nd cat

The inexpensive sticky traps work the best, because they can't get off. Also, if you have any holes fill the hole with steel wool. They will always follow the same trail, because they smell the scent from the previous mice. The solutions above is how to get of them once you have them. But, you need to find out where they are coming from, in order to stop getting them to begin with. I use to live across from a golf course and every time in the fall when they mowed the grass I would get mice. But, I just got them in the garage. And what I said above worked for me and I never seen any in my home.

Find where they are getting in and block their entrance. Remember they can fit through a whole less than 1/16th of an inch. Glue traps in as many places as you can. They tend to run along baseboards and behind things like the refrigerator so that is where you want to put them. I have caught up to three mice on one trap. You can also use something like Dcon. If you have pets be sure it is where they can't get to it. You can do all three at the same time and you should see them disappear. Good Luck.
These critters are nasty.

Decon works for my mice problems. I have also had success with the glue trap and old fashion mouse trap that snaps the metal bar over the mouse. Eliminate the reason why the mice are coming in...food.

You don't say what you've tried, but maybe you are getting rid of some, but there are more. We've used the regular, old mousetrap, the sticky traps and Decon. (at different times) The last mouse we had, my husband actually cornered, picked it up by the scruff of her little neck and let her out (way out) side. All of these methods worked. None of them are particularly pleasant or humane (except the last one) to me, but I cannot bear to have critters in my house. Best of luck.

I have used Juicy Fruit chewing gum (VERY slightly chewed) or a toasted hot dog, rather than the peanut butter or cheese. Both have worked well for me! ;) I have caught many mice this way! Good luck!

Order a Rat Zapper. They are available on the internet. You put a small amount of bait (dry cat food) in this tube with one open end.
The mouse or rat goes in to get the food and is electrocuted.
It is battery powered and works great. I have caught eight in one night. To empty you just take it outside and pour the dead rodents out. It works off AA batteries.
