Well..um..I'm kinda an expert on River. It's a myth. She does overflow...with love, with joy, with friendship. I am not self contained. The worst thing you can do to River is bottle her up. She must flow...to the sea and beyond.

Rivers don't overflow, banks just aren't big enough sometimes.

I believe it is the amazing natural phenomena otherwise known as FLOODING! I Presume you mean Rivers that carry water as opposed to some other river that ^ is talking about, but then you ought to be more specific.
