No, not the first day of your period. You could if it was closer to the last day of your period.

Think about it ladies. The FIRST DAY????? Sperm can last up to 5 days in the right environment. Up to 5 days but more typically 3. I have never know a woman to ovulate on day 5 or before. NEVER. I myself have ovulated on day 10 so if I bleed for 6 days and had sex on day 5-6 then I could have gotten pregnant. But like I said...I have never known a woman to ovulate earlier than day 5.

Now what if the bleeding is not a period but ovulation spotting?? Then yes you can get pregnant.

In natural family planning it is taught that sex on the first day of your period is safe. You can't get pregnant.

And gosh dang people....stop trying to make these people that asking feel stupid. Would you rather they believe something stupid and pass it to others or would you like them to find out the truth and pass the truth around. Ugh!

Once again....there is a HUGE difference in "during your period" and the first day of your period. I looked through those posted sites and they say "during your period" too. The question is "THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR PERIOD"

You cannot get pregnant on the first day of your period. The period shows that 15 days prior to that you ovulated. Ovulation period is certain, once you pass that, your hormones start to fluctuate if the egg has not fertilised, it starts to disintergrate and is going to go through a process of releasing it out of your body. On the first day of your period, your utrine lining which has formulated blood, strts to disintegrate too, which is the source for the new life that would be produced if there were to be fertilization occuring. That is why, if you go to any doctor, they will give you specific dates when you can get pregnant. once ure period strts, nothing can stop the bleeding hence no child can grow within the uterus for survival

There are actually only 2 or 3 days out of the month when you can get pregnant. It's during your ovulation time......which is usually 12 to 14 days after the final day of your period. You can usually tell when you are ovulating......you get a small crampy feeling or pains once in a while in your pelvic/vaginal area.

definitely NO! what is important in getting pregnant is the release of the egg from your ovaries. this does not happen during your period. it is somewhere in between your menstrual cycle. given that you are a regular with a 28 day cycle, your ovulation period would be somewhere during the 14 day after your period. 5 days before and 5 days after this 14th day, you can get pregnant. these days are the highest probabilities wherein one can get pregnant. high chance of getting male babies during the 5 days before the 14th, and high chance of getting female babies 5 days after the 14th. this is due to the fact that male sperms swim faster than female sperms but they have shorter life span compared to the female sperms. again, the answer to your question is NO.

As long as you are still fertile you can get knocked up at anytime. I had quit having periods for 6 months, doctors thought I couldn't get pregnant since there were no periods, boy were they wrong. I have living proof of that! My old neighbor had lost her virginity at 14 and did it right after she started because she had heard the wise tale also.

You will never settle this question so easily so be very careful. One thing is certain is that you will get pregnant if the egg is still in the tube.

SINCE EVERY WOMAN IS DIFFERENT, YES YOU CAN GET PREGNANT WHILE ON YOUR PERIOD. IT'S NOT COMMON, BUT IT CAN HAPPEN. MY BEST FRIEND IS A NURSE AT OUR LOCAL HOSPITAL AND I HAD ASKED HER THE SAME THING SINCE I THINK I AM.
