Go with A. You can easily upgrade ram later. Processors, on the other hand, are hard to upgrade and more expensive.

Well Put it this way my comp has a 1Ghz procesor with 384Mb Ram with a 128Mb video card and my dads has a 2.66Ghz processor with 256Mb Ram with a 64Mb video card however mine is still faster by a good 10 - 15 minutes booting up and multi-tasking! So if you don't plan on doing any upgrades for a while B would be better!

Option A is better. 256 MB RAM is sufficient for most purposes. Its better to have a faster processor because your comp will be just as efficient as your processor speed. Additional RAM on a slow machine doesn't really help.

I increased my computers RAM from 256 to 512. There was a dramatic improvement in the speed as most of today's applications are memory hogs.

The best answer really is both. At today's prices, it should not make too much difference.

256 of Ram is inadequate for today's software. Go up to a gig of Ram.
