I am a Filipino. This oil spill is indeed a disaster, another case of carelessness. But I really like how we are all helping together to clean up all these (except Petron!). Even the salons and barber shops are collecting hairs in order to stop the oil's further distribution. Also, a Filipino inventor is planning to donate his cleaner to remove the oil. I hope it's always like this in our culture.

I read the current news, world reports on the internet everyday. I watch bbc and the world news tonight (abc) and I've not heard a mention of a oil spill nor have I ever heard of Guimaras.

Let's chalk it up to American media or eductional interest.

Any oil spill is destructive and very difficult to hear of. It has a horrible impact on the environment, the animals and the people surrounding.
