For: cities have more people, always in a rush, waste of water, need for more water for more people, crowded with no room for proper water management with pipe lines distribution, water pipes always leaking.

Against: in cities people hardly use water, they have no time for bath, proper cooking, washing: they actually save water for us! cities are well planned, good administration at that level including water management, huge water bills in cities deter people from extravagant use of water, thereby saving water for us, no gardens with city dwellers by and large, no wateering of plants, again saving water!
Good luck with your debate! Do well!

I don't really see why. Surely it is the same amount of water being consumed wherever people are located.

Unless you mean in the direct local area of a city. For example you could research why the two aqueducts from the Cumbria were built to give Manchester a decent water supply. They are called the Thirlmere and Haweswater aqueduct.

I must disagree with the statement, but can't say I really know enough about the topic. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

People that water thier lawn for hours at a time waste alot of water. People that wash their cars every other day waste water. What does this have to do with the city wasting water? Well I've lived in both the city and the country and people in the country don't normally wash their cars or water their lawns. Hope that helps. Good luck!

The congregation of people into cities is paramount to building a dam. No, no, wait...If the monthly water usage of 1 person is x gallons of water per day and you multiply that times the size of, say Los Angeles, you would realize that the city has to import its water all the way from the Sierras, in northern CA, thus stunting growth in that region.

When the utility companies began to prduce extra punping units and sanitize and purify the water the usage is not always valued. This proceedure normally takes up more energy than it takes thought. Not focussing on the productivity of the source to encrease the amount. Therefore the water is not regenerated as well as it should. the government pays more on the units rather than the supply.

Well, think about it logically, cities are where lots of people are. it's really the massive amount of people that are responsible for the water scarcity. too many people using their share of water drains our resources more quickly than before. it seems like cities are worse wasters, because there are simply many many more people than in the rural areas.

I live in Indiana and several years ago my state, along with Illinois, refused to pipe water to the western states (New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona, etc.). If you do some research, you may be able to find an article on this.
