They appear to be popping out of the socket. Can this be treated?

Yes, if it's extreme it's the thyroid. It can be treated and the sufferer should see a doctor.

my ex boss had that problem. He had thyroid and heart issues. My fiance used to call him rodney dangerfeild, 'cuz he looked exactly like him. He was this short, hyper little round man, and with the bulging eyes you wanted to laugh every time you seen him, it was just comical. Not the eye thing per se, just the whole package. He couldn't go into the freezer at work b/c his eyes would freeze and cuase him massive pain. I know he was on meds, but i'm pretty sure there isn't anything thats going to put your eyes back into their sockets, short of surgery and i've just never heard of that!
