Do you think that we are as primitive as we are portrayed in the Simpsons episode and do you believe the stereotypes about us? Do you think that we are all convicts? Do you think we’re insignificant and do you like us or not?
Tell me how much you know about Australia by answering these 3 questions
1.What is our capital city?
2.Who is our Prime Minister?
3.What year was our country proclaimed?

The answer to question 1 is: Canberra
The answer to question 2 is: John Howard
The answer to question 3 is: Australia was federated in 1901. The first fleet arrived here in 26 January 1788 and Australia day is celebrated on that day every year. So officially Australia is 205 years old. EmM you were right with all your questions well done.

I sincerely doubt that the Americans would even be able to pinpoint Australia on the map of the world.
In case you are interested, in the second term my son will study all about Australia.
Canberra, John Howard. I do not know the last answer but am certain that a few years ago Australia celebrated their bi centenary.
BTW I am in India.

As an Amercian, I can assure you that most people see Simpsons episodes like "Bart vs. Australia" strictly as a joke. I don't profess to know everything about Australia, but I know enough that like America it was a British Colony, and treated the Aboriginies as poorly as we treated Native Americans. I've also seen maps of World War 2 that show the Japanese Empire got as far south as the coast of the Northern Territories and Queensland, and I'm a big fan of Ausflag(I love their proposed Reconciliation Flag). So to try to answer your questions:
1)Canberra(Australian Capital Territory).
2)John Howard.
3)Wild guess, 1788(Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on that).
If you'd like, I'll try to tell you what else I know. As for me, about four or five years ago, I had to explain why the Fourth of July is an American holiday to a little Indian-American girl, so not knowing everything about other countries isn't really an "American" thing at all.

3.an ignorant question...the aborigines, in their way had proclaimed the country but just because some pompous @SS thought that the natives didn't have any say they went on to proclaimed what was already proclaimed by the indigineous aborigines of Australia. this was also the case for the rest of the Pasifika

Do you really think anyone believes what they see on the Simpsons? They portrayed England as being quite posh and Tony Blair wearing a jet pack. Ever happenned? Perhaps you'd prefer Neighbours' self-portrayal of Aussie folk?
To be honest I have no idea the answer to the second and third questions but your capital's Melbourne is it not?
