Are the shields for the noise, or for vomitting? I was just there, and couldn't figure it out, but on the website, the video had no shields, thus concluding that they were added on after due time.

Their vomit shields. Pretty gross.
So if you vomit it doesnt hit guests on teh ground it comes back and hits you for being a dork and puking.

Nope, not vomit shields. I thought so too at first-- but then read about the neighborhood complaining about being able to hear the screams from that ride for miles. The shields are for noise abatement.

I can believe the noise abatement thing. I live in Boston, and go to Six Flags out here a lot, and we have a similar ride called Scream, and brother, do they. You can ALMOST hear people on Scream, um, screaming, while actually riding on Batman:The Dark Knight lol.
