To improve your serve, focus on your toss, accuracy, and motion. Before you even hit a serve, practice your motion without a ball at least five times. You should start out slower and finish faster. Make sure your toss is high, your feet are facing the opposite direction in relation to where your serve needs to go, follow through, and use your legs for extra power. Also, if you are having trouble, you need to just focus on getting your serve in, not how hard you can hit the ball. You can't win a match if you can't start one, right? Good luck, and keep practicing!!

Serving is a great stroke for individual improvement. You can work on it as much as you want and it does not require a hitting partner or a ball machine.

My suggestion is to invest in a ball hopper and several tennis balls. You then go to the courts on your own schedule and practice serving. You might want to find a more experienced player or coach to go with you the firsrt couple of times to get some suggestions. There are some great articles in Tennis magazine and online that describe serving and different types of serves. If you are a beginner, repetition and practice are going to be the best way to begin improving your serve.

Good luck to you!

the best way is to pretend you are throwing a ball while holding your racket, when you toss the ball to serve, do the throwing ball motion and try to hit the ball before it starts to go down after the toss...this is the best method to achieve that back scratching position you see many pros use to have power on the serve...finally, before you serve make a mental picture in your mind as you look into the service area on the other side of the court where you want your ball to go after you hit it....keep practicing this and you will soon realize the odds of getting power and placement will keep improving for you...good luck

the way to improve your service is to throw the ball up in arm length and in front of you and have the racket ready to hit the ball.also you can go to a wall and practice it and practice it in til you get it right.

practice practice practice. when you serve what you need to do is throw the ball a little to your right if you are a righty. then you need to hit the ball at the highest point that you can reach. when you reach that spot snap your wrist and make sure to follow through. you should also be a little into the court.
