The three smallest bones in the body are the three bones in the middle ear which control how sounds are transmitted from the ear drum to the inner ear.

The three bones are called the stapes, the malleus and the incus, and the names are the latin words for stirrup, hammer and anvil respectively.

Of these, the stapes is the smallest in the middle ear and the whole human body.
