DON'T listen to this. These are just ploys to get you to click on their website etc, it isn't actually true.
To turn it off, go into Control Panel, then Administrative Tools, then Services. Once you're there you'll see a list. Go all the way down to Messenger and right click on it, the click on Properties. You'll see a window pop up, so press on where it says STOP, and then click StartUp Type and click on Disabled. Then don't forget to press APPLY.
If that doesn't work, it's probably because you have Spyware or AdWare. Install AdAware Se, or Spybot. You can also run the new Norton which has Spyware removal if you have it. If it STILL keeps popping up, reinstall Windows.

unfortunately ,you seem to have a pirated copy of windows xp home, this can be fixed 2 ways......1)buy a new copy from a p.c shop 2)buy a key on-line
both these options will cost you money, however you dont have to have a genuine copy,if you are annoyed by all the notifications that are shown when you boot up,simply right click the genuine adavantage icon(a 5 pointed star) and click "change notification settings" .
this will take you to microsoft and you can then disable the notifications, after agreeing that you wont receive downloads and updates(allthough you will still get critical updates, the ones you need) and you cant download certain programs(i.e 7 beta, defender, media player 11),these are not essential programs anyway.so agree to the page and when you restart all the notifications will be gone
many users use copied xp,s for years,it only becomes a problem when you need direct x,or special updates, but as long as you have adequate security you should be ok
my advice is to disable notifications, and continue to use your pirated copy, and then next year get "vista" as it dosent make sense buying xp so near to the release of a new operating system
good luck

You will have to call Microsoft. they will give you a key to enter in to validate your copy of windows if you purchased it legally, or help you out if you didn't. A lot of people run into this problem when buying a used computer pot together by someone in his garage, and installs the same copy of windows on multiple machines, which is illegal.

Michael and Mona are right. This problem has nothing to do with XP. Your computer is infected with malware. You need something like spybot search and destroy or Lavasoft ad aware to get rid of the infection.

well, i got the answer for u right here, this means that during one of your updates that included a windows genuine software tool, windows found that your copy of windows wasn't genuine, i know, it also happened to me just recently and the starting and closing screens are annoying because of that logo, however, you can download a tool that removes that program (windows genuine advantage tool),,download it at ..it will help you remove that annoying genuine box and next time be sure not to download the same update..let me know if this works.good luck

A simple reinstall of your OS, your computer is compromised by Malware, very very hard to remove from your system.
After you reinstall your XP, install adware programs to prevent this.
That message isn't part of Windows.

Buy a legal copy. If you believe you have paid a real price for a legal copy, then return it to the store. If you have an illegal copy, then you are a thief and shoudl not be using it.
