Push rods don't normaly bend. There had to be a "cause".
In otherwords, just replacing something without finding out what the initial problem was is asking for MORE trouble.

In order to bend a push rod there had to be an underliing problem.

A) Could it have skipped a tooth on the timing chain, or is the timing chain so streched out that it is changing the valve timing?
B) Was the engine over-speeded causing the pistons to impact the bottom of the valves?
C) Do you have a bent intake valve? Have someone do a compression test on the all 8 cylinders.

A ticking noise indicates upper engine. Sounds like someone tapping on the side of the engine with a wrench.(usualy durring idle)

A lower knocking sound indicates bottom end problems. ie; crank bearings, connecting rod. Sounds like someone pounding on the engine with a big hammer. (usualy under acceleration)

You need to have someone with a good "mechanics ear" listen to the engine.

Best of luck to you........

He may have adjusted the lifters to tight, and or their may be a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. As for the knock that could be carbon that broke loose ,which also depends on the type of knock, a deep throat ed knock could be a rod bearing, an upper knock could be carbon and or a lifer that didn't fill up with oil.
