We cannot know whether we are alone or not in the universe until we meet an alien species, to be honest (I mean, how could we categorically know for sure that we aren't?).
The mathematics and statistical chance is that there is some form of intelligent life out there - look at the 'Fermi Paradox' on the wikipedia. To say that there isn't is to not consider the sheer size of the universe.
Finally, the universe is not infinite, because it started at a point and then expanded from that point on. It is still expanding to this day. However, the universe would seem endless, because if you travel in a straight line through it, away from where you started, even if you keep going perfectly straight, you will end up at the point you started, because the Universe is curved. This curvature is in the 4th spatial dimension, which means while we do not percieve it, we notice that we end up at the same point in the 3rd dimension.
So in a sense, the universe seems 'endless', but does have a specific (but ever expanding) 'volume'. And the chance is there are aliens out there yet, but we may never contact them.

We not alone, we got eachotha. We don't know the shape of the space we are in. The universe could be finite (limited) but unbounded (has no "edge"). Often the analogy of the 2 dimensional surface of a sphere is used: the surface of the sphere has no end... we can fly around the earth in a plane and we never find that the earth ends, only that we end up back where we started. For a three dimensional space, the same situation can exist. It is impossible for our brains to truly visualize a 3d space curving in upon itself, but mathematicians have no problem investigating such spaces.

After years of processing data for the SETI project and seeing how many hits they get, I would say we are not alone. Where does the universe end? How can it end? If you came to the end of the universe and there was a wall there, what would be on the other side? Would the wall be inches thick, or miles thick, and what would be on the other side of that? That's why the universe is called infinite.

Scientist are still trying to determine the exact size of the universe. As far as we know now, there is no forseeable "edge" of the universe, so it is possible that it goes on forever.
That being said, it is not statistically possible that humans are alone in the universe. Think about it. There are billions of stars in a galaxy and billions of galaxys in the universe. it literally has no known end. somewhere out there, there is another culture and species. it's selfish and self-centered to believe that we are the only life in the universe.

There is no evidence to suggest that there is any life at all in the universe except here on earth and wishful thinking does not change that. The universe itself comprises the space were things exist. Beyond that there is infinite nothingness. The universe continues to expand into that nothingness.
Infinity is difficult for us to grasp because we and everything we know is finite.

Imagine the universe to be similar to an apple tree. a worm in an apple, sees many other apples and wonders am I alone in this "universe"?
Does the universe end? most likely it ends some place; unless it is like a circle then you can't tell where it begins or where it ends

No, you're not alone in the universe. Anyone who wonders are we alone in the universe is with you. That question is probably thought about all over the universe. The questions are more important than any possible answer.

We are not alone. According to a humorist, the others in Universe are much more intelligent, that's why they don't contact us! Universe does not end!
