Elizabeth got it right.

Angel is "mal'ach" (מלאך... or with vowel marks: מַלְאָךְ) and it actually means "messenger"
Halo is "hillah" (הילה... or with vowel marks: הִלָּה). Both words, English and Hebrew, come from a Greek origin.
