Unfortunately, he acquired one. Her name was Grungetta Grunge, and she lasted only a few seasons.
She was really irritating, frankly, and I'd like to think that the reason for her disappearance from the series was a hasty cover-up when Oscar 'accidentally' guillotined her with the steel lid, sending a ball of fabric with two ping-pong ball eyes bouncing down Sesame Street while he yelled the famous phrase: 'And stay away from my trash can!'
When a guy can have PMS all by himself, who needs competition?

Why don't Bert, Earnie, the Count, Big Bird, and Cookie Monster have girlfriends -- Because this is a show about TEACHING letters, words, numbers, and elementary social skills - it is not a show about implied sexuality.
BTW: Oscar the grouch had a girlfriend once. What happened to her. (maybe she didn't fit into the show's true mission).

I guess they could do an episode about that.
I don't watch sesame street anymore so I really don't know much about the character's attitudes
