Pluto was not destroyed, it was deemed not a planet. It's just a chunk of rock along with the other 800 known rocks in that area.

"a celestial body that is in orbit around the sun, has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a ... nearly round shape, and has cleared the neighborhood around its orbit."

"Pluto is just one of over 800 known Kuiper belt objects"

No, it has not been destroyed, only demoted to what is known now as a 'dwarf planet'. It was finally demoted after much thought by many scientists and astrologists as its oblong orbit cut into that of the planet Neptune. Bye Pluto, one of my favourite planets.
