My goldfish seem to be systematicaly dying of from swimbladder....i have read that this is not a contagious condition so i am at a loss to know why i am getting multiple deaths. HAS ANYONE ANY IDEAS...? And how do i treat it ?

I think Leslie T is spot on. However there are some other bacteria infections that will sometimes look like and/or cause swim bladder disorder and are indeed contagious. In cases of bacteria and constipation causing the disorder, it can be treated. See link 1 for more info. Link 2 has a list of other things that mimic swim bladder disorder (swollen stomach etc) Link 3 is information on preventing swim bladder disorder - most of these links are for swim bladder disorder in bettas, though its' the same for goldies :)

the fancy, round bodied goldfish are "man made" they don't take that shape in nature, due to their shape their organs are rearranged and that is what contributes to swim bladder disease
all the fancy breeds are predisposed to this condition
sometimes they do recover, one thing you can do to help is to keep the affected fish in water less than 6 inches deep

maybe its not the swim bladder,the only way to no for sure is take the next one that dies to the vets for an autopsy,that way you will find out.
