Well if you really can't do without your nicotine, then go ahead and smoke, it's your choice. If you're so stressed out and feeling so low, then maybe it's not the time to quit.
Even though you are sick, having a smoke or two is not going to be the straw that broke the camel's back - I hope! Obviously it's certainly not going to help, and it probably will delay your recovery.

Dang! I hate to say this, but because you are sick, now is not the time to completely deprive your body of nicotine when you are a chain smoker. Because you are sick, however, you also should not smoke. Use a nicotine supplement instead (nicotine gum or a patch). Now when you get better, quit smoking. There are much better ways of reducing stress and occupying your time!!!
-hope you did well on finals!

Smoking is bad regardless of whether you have a cold---but I'm sure you know that.
If I were you, while the cold is bad, try nicotine gum or patch. That way you can get the nicotine without putting any undue stress on your lungs.
Also, FYI, with a normal cold, you shouldn't have that high of a fever. Your cold might have turned into an infection.

It won't kill you to keep smoking but it will slow down the healing process. If you continue to smoke you will get more frequent colds and reoccuring sinus infections as you get older. I know all this because I've been smoking for over 35 years and my doctor's have just informed me that if I don't quit smoking my conditions will just keep reoccuring. I quit 2 days ago but I am using the patch(generic works fine) and the pharmist told me to get the gum(generic also) and cut it into 4 pieces and chew it when the craving gets to bad. Try to quit while your young. Quality of life is very important later on.

Smoking constricts your blood vessels and introduces forign materials into your lungs and bloodstream. Your body is fighting a cold or virus of some type. Your smoking is causing your body to have to work harder to make you better. each time you smoke, your immune system is slightly injured. Think of your body as a complex machine. Every time you smoke, you're throwing sand into this complex machinery. Eventually bad things are going to occurr, and the strain on it will become more apparent when your body is working hard.

I strongly advise you to stop smoking altogether, you'll feel better in the long run and it will also save you money for college.

Smoking +anything=BAD Since you are presently sick, now would be an excellent time to quit. I don't say this to be mean, but out of caring.

Buy some of those patches. They won't reduce your fever, but they might cut down your cravings.

smoking is always bad for you , but you knew that.
It would not do more harm than usually, provided that you dont have a pneumonia
