The Painted House, by John Grisham, is a readable, good book: a gentle, slow moving story! The Power of Now, by Eckhart Tolle, and the follow up book, Practicing The Power of Now -- for some serious, but fast reading! If you want light reading, good humour, read " I Moved The Cheese", by Darrel Bristow-Bovey! Hope you've read all Harry Potter books! Happy reading!

Murder on the Rails by William G. Palmini, Jr. and Tanya Chalupa
Sleep in Heavenly Peace by M. William Phelps
Both sad and a bit creepy i believe it is due to the nature of the stories, and knowing that they are true

I'm really into Clare Chambers at the moment - excellent books. Best to go to the library and select a few books and give them a go, if you like the author, check them out on Amazon and you'll find similar stuff written by different authors - simple!

Timequake by Kurt Vonnegut. Or any book by Vonnegut for that matter (some may not fall into your timeline however). He writes what I consider satire - with a slant you will fin NO WHERE ELSE. If you have never read any of his books you have to give him a try!

i'm reading the first book in the trilogy 'His Dark Materials'. I tried to read it a while ago and just couldnt get into it, but now i'm really hooked and have to force myself to stop reading it! it's not your average story, and though it's aimed at a teen audience, i really enjoy it.
