the obvious answer would be to ask the owner.

next would be to talk to an agent in your area, to seel if it has been listed, if it is on mls, you can check www.mls.com in the USA, or www.mls.ca in Canada.

If this is an exclusive listing, it may not show on either, as these sites will only post multiple listings.

which then more or less to force you to go back to the owner.

If you are hoping to buy the property, I would talk to the owner sooner rather than later.

But here is a bit of a twist, in all but a few cases, if your home was for sale with a realtor, most if not all agents would contact you to visit the property to view it, measure it, and make showing arrangements with you.

So if the owner is trying to sell it by owner, I believe that in most juridictions, there is a requirement for the owner and or his her agent to notify a tenant to gain access the property for any purpose, other than emergencies.

Knowing that very few if anybody would ever buy a property sigh unseen, it is unlikely that you would not become aware of the owners intentions at some time, if the property was for sale.

if its listed with a licenced Realtor it should be on www.mls.com i think you can do a search on there by address...
