The baby has hives, this means they have a rash or a skin irritation which is probably itchy and red.

The medical term is 'urticaria' (if you're trying a web search, that may produce more hits).
You may or may not have success on finding the source. Sometimes urticaria is caused by plant allergens, or laundry soap, or animal dander, or bug bite... The possibilities are endless.
Histamine blockers are often used. Using prednisone will only cause a rebound effect.

Its irritation of the skin caused by allergic reactions and bug bites. Commonly they appear in clusters looking like pimples. As they progress they can open up into sores.
