add some RSS feeds to your blog. make people stay on your blog.
use ad systems by yahoo and google.

I can do like the trashy girl who use to work at my job does. She posts blogs that are all about her sex life. She has even gone so far to make a list of all the men she has slept with, for all to see.

I would optimize it for search engines and i would have key articles noticed by a high traffic blog in my field.

you need to ask yourself: "Why the hell would anyone want to read about my life." once you answer that question, you can adjust your life accordingly to be more interesting. If you're interesting enough, the readers will come. if not, you'll only succeed in pissing people off at your boring life.
