There will be no growth bec isolation is not life. It is slow decay and ultimate end. Life is change and growth is the result. Growth only takes place when we mingle in society and our own environment and this way we are always receptive to the external stimuli and factors that contribute towards growth. It may be debatable then how do the ascetics spend their lives in the Himalayas...well theirs is a special power that comes through prayers and meditation over long years.

We sort of managed it for 9 months in the womb.
But, there was some sort of outside stimulation.
The film cast-a-way shows how a person can manage alone.
Robinson Crusoe, etc, etc.
Fundamental question of life ?
As far as I know, no other species commits suicide. This is probably due to the fact that no other species keeps asking itself an unanswerable question, like we do.
We are born, we breed, we pass on our genes, we die.
I would assume that. with not knowing the answer to the "big" question, then we should make the most of the bit between being born and dying, and hope that it is as long as possible.

Actually, there was a study done in which a woman spent three months in a deep cave, without contact with the surface, and no way to tell time or day and night. It has been a few years since I saw it, but it might be interesting to see what she said about the experience.

Assuming we hadn't totally lost it and become completely nuts as a result of this isolation, it would become apparent we need to be with others humans in order to function properly.
We are creatures who live successfully within an inter dependant society.
