though society seems to have changed drastically, but this issue still remains as delicate and controversial as always!
the social stigma, that the child faces during his early years...brings in a massive impact on his developing psychology and behaviour moulding.however,it's definitely totally upon the parenting and support from family that the child gets that shall be the final moulder of his morality.
IQ level remains unaffected .
psychological behaviour, does get affected, depending upon the social acceptance he receives from his surroundings...neighbours..friends and most importantly the relations he has with his family. being born to parents without them being married...may bring upon strong psycological shattering on learning this fact,if the child isn't given due attention, love &care.
in my opinion, such children can lead normal lives, only if society lets them to live at peace.

There is no difference whatsoever in IQ or behaviour, as to morality, it used to be that the Christian Church would not baptise a child that is born out of wedlock. Nowadays there is no difference in the way a child is perceived regarding whether the parents are married or not. Marriage has nothing to do with children. they just need a parent or parents who love them.

Child born without Marriage is called only of Mother in our conutry and mother and child are not given a respectable position in India.
Child born after marriage is considered as a legal one and given the Cast of Father and Owns all the rights of the society.
This is the one major Backward cause of this society and it should be abolished.

It's more accepted today. It used to be considered a disgrace to have a child out of wedlock. A lot of kids do grow up with problems who are from broken homes. There's no rule, though. Some grow up fine, others have a lot of emotional problems, but the same is true with a married couple home.

One is legitimate and the other is a bastard. I don't know about in the US today, but there used to be legal ramifications involved. One could inherit, the other couldn't. A friend of mine found out when he was a teenager that he was a bastard. It shouldn't have made any difference to him at that point, but it really did. His respect for his parents plummeted and his own feeling of self-worth took a nosedive. That was 20 years ago and it still bothers him.

No difference. Children are born into this world innocent and pure. It all depends on us. How we treat them, If we love them equally. It is all of our responsibility that that child is given all the love, care and guidance we can.
I believe also, this love and understanding must be extended to the parents of the child, that all may be attracted by our love, to the love of God.
If we can successfully do that, perhaps, it won't happen again.
Our responsibility to these parties is unconditional love, just as God gives us.

The difference used to be that one was a bastard and the other not because society a few decades ago where not so accepting of children born out of wedlock, it is norm now,not so much because of personal choice but because of failed relationships.

Morality and behaviour depends on the upbringing by the parents. There is no physiological difference, and no IQ difference.

Practices change with time. Does saying I do make a change? A couple accepting each other should be defined as marriage.
