Floaters are caused by vitreous separations. The vitreous is the meshwork inside your eye that keeps it round. These can come loose from the retina and get stuck in the jelly of your eye. That also explains the flashes, as the vitreous is coming loose, it forms a wrinkle in the retina, therefore causing flashes. Most of the time this happens without complication, but it can turn into a retinal detachment. You should have it looked at right away, the sooner a retinal detachment is diagnosed, the higher the chance of fixing it without complication.
It is mostly our body's natural reaction to the aging process, but get it checked out anyway ASAP.

i have the same exact problem. i asked my doctor ( mind you he's a medical doctor not an optomologist( and eye doctor) but he said that it could either be some sort of residue or debri under the lense, a part of the lense is damaged or part of the cornia is damaged. i have an appointment with the eye doctor and if i figure anything out i'll email you or something

You should call you eye doctor tell them what's going on and I am sure they will work you right in, this could lead to sever problems and you could possibly loose your vision if you don't have this taken care of. Please do not postpone this!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck and take care of those eyes.
