Elephants are such grand animals. Intelligent and beautiful. I can see why people used to do it in the past but come on we are better than that now. It's our job to protect these animals from extinction. I best entertainment you can get from an elephant is seeing it in its wild habitat doing what an elephant is meant to do... trumpeting, wollowing in mud and spraying water with their trunks, not dancing on their hind legs!!

Elephants are such beautiful creatures and should never be chained, used as a tourist attraction or be taught to do tricks, its cruel and the people in this world that do that should be locked up, is it any wonder they have sad eyes, the only time an elephant should be seen is in a free and safe environment were they belong, not in a circus or a zoo or in any other place to bring in the crowds and raise money for the greedy.

I've never met on I didn't like. I have never met one.
Seriously though, my friend went to India and sent me back a postcard of an elephant, it was unashamedly chained around it's feet. I felt appalled at this sight.
Elephants are native to developing countries, I am in no way being patronising here, therefore it's up to the so called developed countries to educate about animal cruelty, rights etc.

I love elephants, did you ever hear of the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee? They take in old, abused and retired elephants. Carol Buckley founded the sanctuary. It is a great thing. Yes, I agree, it is cruel what they do in other countries. It makes me feel bad. I have quite a few videos on elephants I love them so much. Did you hear of the "Urban Elephant"? There is even a site where you can hear elephants trumpeting, it is neat.

Elephant's Memory - Touching Story

In 1986, Mkele Mbembe was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from college. On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed so Mbembe approached it very carefully. He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot, and found a large thorn deeply embedded in it.

As carefully and as gently as he could, Mbembe worked the thorn out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man and with a rather stern look on its face, stared at him. For several tense moments Mbembe stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned and walked away. Mbembe never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later he was walking through a zoo with his teenage son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Mbembe and his son Tapu were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Mbembe and lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Mbembe couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Mbembe summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. Suddenly the elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of the man's legs and swung him wildly back and forth along the railing, killing him.

Probably wasn't the same elephant.

Elephants are beautiful creatures. Very noble. Any animal in captivity, whether it be a circus or a zoo is not living a very happy life. I do think it's cruel to keep animals in captivity just for our selfish pleasures. It's sad, and that's reason I no longer frequent zoos or circuses. It breaks my heart to see those animals so sad and broken down.

Elephants are lovely creatures, intelligent and strong, but gentle: very lovable animals. Good pets to have, very useful. We should not be cruel to any animals, especially elephants.

I think elephants are just too cool. All of God's creatures should be in a habitat that is natural and comfortable to them.

I like ALL animals and I think it is really cruel to kill them. This is just me, but I dont eat meat as well because I do believe that animals have souls, and they feel pain too. Just because they are not as smart as us doesnt mean that they deserve to die.
