I just bought a music box I love, and it was the last they had. The problem is the key on the box is so tight it will only turn enough to play 2 notes. I'm scared if I force it, I'll break it. I took the music piece out of the box, but I'm not sure what to do. Is there a screw I can adjust to fix it? Or just deal with it too tight and not get to play it? Any help would be wonderful!

Ok, I fixed the key. But there is a small part that spins reallt fast, like a helicopter blade. Its attached to a small screw with the threds showing. If I thump it with my finger, the blades spin and the music plays (after the key has been twisted). If not thumped, it won't play. Any ideas?
And no, return is not an option. This place doesn't order more, it gets what its shipped. Its the only store in the area that has this figurine, and I want it too much to return it.

The spinning thing is a sort of governor that maintains a constant speed for the clock work, you have wound the spring too tight, lubricate the bearings and keep starting the spinny thing until the spring tension is less, it may keep running at that point, worst case take it to a clock shop and see if they can get it working.

You may be winding the springs too tight. Let it play through, and get a small can of oil used on toy train cars. It will cost $2-4 and you can find it in most hardware stores. Apply a drop on the key and manually turn the key cautiously.

MAYBE TRY TO LUBRICATE THE KEY AREA WITH BABY OIL, OR SOMETHING SIMILAR

if it still won't play, maybe you could return it to store you purchased it from & see if they could possibly order you another 1 just like it
