He has been great for the sport regardless of his sporadic play!! It is unfortunately because the scrutiny he is put under is a little unfair. He is a midfielder who is expected to score like a striker. He does his job very well and better than most at his position. i think his public persona demands so much of him that it is impossible to see where he ranks as a true player. Ultimately though, he is / was a great player in his prime and England was very lucky to have a player of that caliber dawn the red and white.
We Americans would love to see him come over and play in our league, sometimes you don't realize how good you got it!!

not a question of is more like was, he WAS a great footballer especially when he was playing for Man U, how can you forget that half field goal, but he's overrated now, except he can sell a lot of boots and shirts.

david bechham is a complete footballer . he may not posses the artistic style of ronaldo , ronaldino, or all the latin style but his accuracy , controll,passing , ability to scrore from freekick ,cool,are of higest percentage.he is very much like moulded to the style of pele .that is why i rate him no 1 midfielder in the world at the moment.

He's just an above average player with a specialised skill.
Otherside of his kicking ability as exhibited in his crosses, long passes and shooting, almost all other aspects of his game is poor.
