some think this helps them get rid of there problems. While high they do not remember there bad things ,but the good. They also think life is great. Once they start coming down there body gets sick so they need another fix to be "healthy". In pot6 it is a mental thing, with acid it stays in your fat so if you lose weight you will have flashbacks and i am not sure of the others.
I had friends who did drugs and i tried hard to stay around to help them to get better. Once i got pregnate i decided i can only sit back and pray for there recovery and take care of my family. 1 friend did get cleaned up. the other couple did not according to sources

People do drugs in the beginning because it makes them 'feel good'. Usually, they are self-medicating. In other words, they have emotional problems and the high they experience from drugs cover up the pain. When they are high, they no longer feel the mental anguish they did before. After a while, they become addicted and even if they want to stop, they can't - not without help. If you've never been addicted to anything, there is no way you can really understand what it's like. It's not a choice anymore. You know it's bad for you, it has very negative consequences, but you do it anyway - even if you don't want to. I recommend doing some reading on addiction and what kind of people become victims of drug abuse. You'd be surprised, it can happen to ANYONE. Intelligence, education or social status have nothing to do with it. Consider yourself lucky. It's much better to not do drugs and wonder why people do than to do drugs, and know all the answers.

People do drugs for a multitude of reasons, here is some following examples of why an individual may be inclined to use drugs.

1. Spiritual/Religious purposes

2. Addiction.

3. Social Interaction

4. Escape from reality

5. Because they are lead to believe they need them (prescribed
drugs)

6. Out of Boredom

The list would be very long to keep on going, but here are some common reasons.

People don't do drugs because they think they're cool. Well, maybe younger kids do. Most people start drugs because of curiosity, and then get hooked. I agree with you on meth. It's big here in WI, too. It's the most addictive substance out there right now. Anyway, the reason most people do it is because, at least in the case of "hard drugs," they have a physical dependence on the drug.

Some do it because its an addiction. Some tell me they do drugs because they claim it gives them enlightenment and they can discover things better than not under the influence. As far as smoking, its because its an addiction, and a very hard habit to break. I personally avoid drugs, because I dont like the idea of not being in complete control of myself and my thoughts, but to each is own. And smoking is just nasty, sorry smokers. Im not out to preach or anything, just saying my bit.

most pple that do drugs were exposed to them in a peer presure situation and wanting to fit in (as is the nature of peer presure) they do it. after a while they get addicted and cant stop, or dont want to stop. Some feel the same way about soberness as you feel about being high e.g. they might think "how can they live without it" .....as for smoking i dont have much room to speak being a smoker myself. but i will say that it is also a drug in a way that technically it is a chemical dependency. i know its bad for me but i dont care enough about my health to take the initiative to quit. i believe this is many pples view on your question

I guess it all depends on the person. There are a number of reasons why people do these things. Insecurity, anxiety, stress, inability to cope, social pressure, and just because they think it's fun.

To escape reality, I guess. I don't think smoking is as bad as heavy drug use though.
