She spent over $50 000 000 to open a girls' school in South Africa and just simply seems to make so much beauty around her... I think she's a particularly special celebrity because she was poor before all of her fame so she can relate to other unfortunate ones-- unlike so many young ones today who just inherited. I mean, what did Paris Hilton do? Inherit millions from her rich daddy and start partying around like a sex-freak? Wow, so courageous and inspiring! Compared to Oprah, she's just an insignificant speck of dirt... anyway, all of the joy from the children Oprah is so magnificient and instead of the other people just asking about shallow bums like Cassie or whatever, I just felt it'd be nice if we talked about some of TRUE value.
Thanks for reading and no rude comments please-- I will take no interest in them.

I do think that she is a great woman who is very sharing with her wealth. And I have seen plenty of pictures where I have been wowed and like Oh my god that is Oprah she looks great! But remember there are plenty of poor people right here in the good old USA. There are many children that go to bed hungry because there just isnt' enough money in the house for food & bills. Many children of working poor would be just as appreciative. And it poor neighborhoods the school system is poor and the aren't learning what they need. Yah I can't see Paris doing anything to help anyone that wouldn't benefit herself. Oprah is a genuinely good person who helps many.

If the best argument you have to prove Oprah is beautiful is to compare her to a loss like Paris Hilton, you are in big trouble. You want to find out if your art is any good, compare it to a masterpiece, not garbage.

I agree with you. I'ts very rare that u find someone commited to making a change not just in her own country, but in other countries as well. I'm from south africa and i for one know how difficult times can be. It takes someone with a unique and beautiful soul to use their money for the benefit of others.

Personally, I think Oprah is all about promoting Oprah. Yes, she promotes herself by doing good things, but I would have more respect for her if she opened a school for girls in South Africa and did not promote her doing so EVERYWHERE!!! Is opening the school in Africa more important to her or is letting everyone know she did it more important?? Sometimes I wonder!!!

Yes, I agree, and I also think that (although most people are sick of hearing about them) Brad & Angelina did the "right thing". They knew that the birth of their baby was "big news" so they sold the first photos and put the money to charity. I see that as a "win-win", people got to see pics, B & A weren't hounded by papparazzi, and money went to a good cause.
I would so much rather read about celebs doing stuff like that, than who was partying with whom.

I love Oprah. You don't see too many people with her kind of money helping other people. She's a very giving person, next to her, Elvis Presley is the only other one that comes to mind when it comes to helping other people. Elvis was the KING and Oprah is the QUEEN.

You can't be serious?
Oh well maybe you are?
$50,000 is peanuts! She spends 5 times more than that for personal security every six months!
She donates through her own Foundations as Tax Shelters
and THOSE DONATIONS ARE HIGH-PROFILE Self-Serving MINIMAL Foundation maintenance monies needed to justify the millions upon millions under the Foundations tax free umbrella.
You are obviously one of those "adoring" fans.
I am soooooooooooooooo tempted to say
"Get A Life" but I guess you already have one..
submerged in Oprah's!

Yeah, it was really nice of her to open that school. On the other hand it wasn't right for her to go to France and get mad because the store wouldn't stay open late for her to shop and then pull out the race card.
