I've had that,take ferrous sulphate and wash it down with orange juice as the vit c helps the absorbtion of iron.

He's basically telling you that you are aneamic. 7.3 is quite low so you should be taking iron tablets & try to eat more greens (broccoli, spinach etc).
When my mums got down to 5 she had to have a blood transfusion.

You have to change your diet,{ iron rich foods spinach,liver etc.}
but you will also have to take supplements,as you can never eat enough food to make up for the deficit. Try to buy organic meat and veg. as they are of better quality for your needs.

There are many iron tonics available.Get one recommended by doctor.Fersolate is an iron tablet/tonic available over the counter.

In America, the results are measured in gm/dl = grams per deciliter.
In the UK, the results are measured in mmol/l = millimoles per litre.
The recognised ranges (in America) is as follows:
Male: 13.8 to 17.2 gm/dl
Female: 12.1 to 15.1 gm/dl
I'm not sure what the recognised ranges are converted as in the UK. Sorry.

eat plenty of dried fruits, such as raisans, apricots etc.
Take capsules if necessary.
I know this is personal, but do you have heavy periods, if so you definately need to up your iron intake.
Eat plenty of fortified breakfast cereals, eggs, milk, liver, kidneys.
