I don't know, but if you find out, I'll be watching. That kind of thing has bugged me for a while. Like why do you call Germans german when they are actually Deutchlanders? I forget what the Chinese call themselves, but I know that there are many countries that have a totally different word for themselves than we do.

Because the use of Kaolin in pottery was first developed in China. Kaolin, a by-product of the weathering of granites is known as "China Clay". hence the name .
