Well, enough stupid people still watch that show, generating enough revenue to ensure it is still on TV. What people should do is just stop watching and it will go away.

To me, the show has good years and bad years. It will go for a while and be really funny and then it will be really bad for a while. It has definitely had good years since Belushi, Akroyd, and Murphy. Chris Farley was hilarious as was Will Ferrell. And what about Mike Myers and Dana Carvey?
I will admit that right now they are at a low spot. They sometimes have a funny skit or two but they're not hilarious like they have been in the past. Maybe next season....

The best years for me were from about 1986 when Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz were on until about 1993, maybe, when Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, and i think David Spade was the last to leave from that crew. Not sure about the years, exactly, but it was that whole era that made me tune in religiously. And back then if I wasn't going to be home to watch I would make sure to tape it. Now it doesn't even occur to me that it's even on! I would rather watch an rerun of something else.
Oh! And I almost forgot about Mike Meyers!!! He was in there, too!

It is pretty pathetic the way they keep trying to survive. Saturday night live hasn't been funny for years and years. Every now a then One cast member will stand above the rest. But it takes more than one funny person to carry the show on their backs. Will Ferrell was the only reason I hung in there as long as I did, with him gone forget about it!

As long as it's profitable -- and it still is -- the show will survive.
Interestingly, though, the budget is being cut in an effort to ensure that the show *does* remain profitable.
Did you know that each regular cast member makes only $8000 per episode?! That's less than $200,000 per year, which is barely enough to live on in NYC!

I agree. I only thought it was funny when Kevin Nealon, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Dana Curry, etc were on there. Can't think of the years it was...after Dennis Miller, though. I've never thought he was funny.
