B C schools are being called discriminatory because a homosexual couple is asking that independant schools be included in their complaint to the BC Human Rights Tribunal alleging systematic discrimination against homosexuals in the educational system. The couple, who are both teachers claim a lack of positive portrayals of gays and lesbians in the curriculum.
Yet, in another part of the country, the Muslims want the right to settle their differences involving issues such as divorce, custody and inheritance using Sharia Law. Sharia is a 1300 yr old body of laws and rules for living inspired by Islam's holy book the Quran. An expert in Islamic law and politics said from past experiences with Islam in other nations, Sharia law is often a first step in demands for a separate Sharia state. Sharia law alters definitions of morality justice, and even terms like democracy and human rights.

In answer to your question, there are too many things going wrong w/our world to list here. There are also too many things going 'right'.

I fail to see the direct connection between the gay complaint and Muslim one. I think I see the connection that you are implying: Muslims are subverting the state and want their own little world, and gays do too? Is that it?

Please... your value judgement in here is pretty strong, and biased, in my opinion. Is it wrong for people to ask for a respect of their point of view? No. Is it 'wrong' for them to win something that might remove the rights of someone else; someone who is not hurting them? Maybe.

I see lots of 'gray' here in your question and examples. Should gays force independent (does that mean 'religious') schools to have positive portrayals of gays? No, not necessarily (IMNSHO); that violates their private beliefs. However, neither should they be allowed to have negative portrayals of gays, nor preach the politics of hate. How about teaching (and preaching) the idea that 'Gays do not meet with out beliefs, and yet do not judge them nor hate them; let God judge them." Would that be so wrong? After all, don't most religions reserve judgement for God? Even if you are to judge, does that give one the right to deny someone the pursuit of happiness if it doesn't really harm you?

As for Muslims and Sharia Law... ask another question, and preferably in Law & Ethics and not the LGBT section. Thank you.
