Don't let the optometrist make you believe that you need those expensive eye solutions. I've been wearing contacts for 11 years, and I use the generic multi-purpose solution at Wal-Mart. It is very, very, very important to wash and rinse your hands thoroughly before handling your contacts!!!!!!!!! I can't stress that enough. You can get so much bacteria in your eye by not washing, not to mention debris that could cause infections and/or pain.
When you go to put them in on your own, look upward and pull your bottom lid forward slipping the contact in to it. It takes some practice, and it will be frustrating, but give it some time, it gets a lot easier. Taking my contacts in and out is no thing anymore.

The most important thing is cleanliness.
- You have to keep the lenses clean.
- The saline solution you keep in the lens case should be changed every day and the lens case itself cleaned and rinsed in saline solution.
- Buy an unused toothbrush for cleaning the case.
The best solutions are the ones where you don't need to rub the lens itself to clean it. No-rub solutions (Bausch and Lomb).
- Make sure your hands are always clean when you are putting in or taking out the lenses.
- On days when your eyes feel dry or tired, try to avoid using the lenses because you'll just irritate your eyes.
- If you're rubbing your eyes a lot and tearing, then you might have a minor eye infection- get it checked.

Don't sleep in them if you don't want to get an eye infection. I made that mistake when I first started wearing contacts. Disposables are recommended by most doctors because they are less likely to get protein buildup due to the short duration of use.

Give it time to adjust. get disposable ones where you wear them for like 2 weeks or so. Take care of them and don't drop them or anything. And keep your hands clean. Also change them regularly you don't want red eyes. Also do not contaminate the tip of your solution dispenser(the cleaning thing)

always wash your hands when you touch them. if you experience discomfort, tell your doctor immediately. i'd use disposable contacts also. mine last about 2 weeks.
NEVER sleep in them. if you take a nap with them, put some drops in after you wake up because they'll feel really dry.
experiement with different lenses if you dont' like the ones you get. but tell your doctor...contact me if you need further assistance.

dont wear make up when u go in to get them or u'll look like a racoon, trust me. and dotn aply makeup until after u put them in. also if u have trouble with them poping off right after u put them n ur eye, just try to keep ur lids open as long as u can and move ur eyes around, then close ur eye and press gently on the lid to secure it.

they take getting used to. your eyes will be super sensitive for a while. . . and you may need to use eyedrops if your eyes get dry. . .
just ask lots of questions when you go in.
you'll be fine.
