No, he isn't fearing anything. The demand is very genuine as this would be, more or less, the amount he will earn while he is with ICC as an umpire. If he gets the money, he will earn lots of free time for himself and his family as he would get his salary in advance with no liabilities.
You asked whether he will get away after doing the damage to the cricket, but here should pore on the story and then decide if he is the only culprit.
If you go by the rules of the cricket, he did nothing wrong and everything was as per the rules and this is why ICC is by his side. The people from different country and different origin can have different views on the issue. Most likely the asians would be against him and australian and alike will be vouching for him. But, folks this is a gentlemen's game and is played to spread peace and not racism - as that's what I see many people are trying to do.
We have heard only one side of the story and awaiting Hair's vesrsion, which he said will state after the verdict. Only thing I found wrong was that he didn't havy clue, like as as video recording, of ball tampering. He didn't even bother to discuss it with Inzy before calling for the replacement. With this goes his past dubious track record. This all puts him in great doubt.
Inzy didn't do good either as that was very stupid of him to delay his team's presence on the field. They just lost an almost won game and now he faces danger of ban. There are definitely better ways to put up your protest.
So, folks lets wait and watch and see the verdict of ICC. The guilty should be punishes and cricket should win. This is what is important for everybody.
God bless cricket!

What did he do? What was his offence?
He upheld the laws of the game (and yes, he does does have priors for that), without fear or favour. He didn't make the law which he felt was being broached, and he enforced it as he was required by the laws of cricket.
Let's now look at his previous controversy - namely the chucking incident. One player, whose action has been questioned by many, was called by a solitary, courageous umpire. He was then effectively hung out to dry by the ICC, and the supporters of the bowler in question alleged that his motives were racist. Give us a break!!! A familiar modern scenario, isn't it? You don't like the rules, so you accuse the person who enforces them of racism/sexism/homophobia, or any other such non-PC sin, so as to cancel out their case wthout them getting any opportunity to have their case examined impartially.
And what subsequently happened? The no-ball rule was changed to allow a greater amount of straightening of the elbow. If this is not a tacit acknowledgement that some of his deliveries were illegal under the "old rule", then what is? If not, why would the rule be changed? Oh, and given that this is the case, wasn't Mr Hair correct?
As for damaging the game, who damages the game more than those who seek to remove from the umpire the power to enforce the rules?
Please let's put down our petty allegiances, and let's look at the good of the game. Why not encourage all to play in the spirit of the game, and let's encourage sportsmanship, respect for the rules and the umpires, and let's get back to accepting the umpires decision.
(Or else I'll call everyone racist, I'll take my bat and ball, and I'll go off and sulk)

Darell hair followed the laws of the game. I think the third umpire should have intervened and handled the issue diplomatically without harming the game. The blame goes to the guys who made the laws of ball tampering. We cannot directly blame Darell Hair as he is simply there two follow the laws of the game.
Can anybody spared some time to inspect if the ball was really tampered intentionally or the tampering of the ball was caused due to some mishap?
