Yes I do agree that India will be a major economic power.
But for that we must start improving the infrastructure that is proving to be the biggest stumbling block.
We need a massive investment in our infrastructure. We need this to happen at a quick pace too otherwise the pace of economic development will be slowed down.

It has the potential but bribery is so rife that nothing gets done till everyone has had their pockets lined. And the amount of poverty is unbelievable with no access to healthcare for a large proportion of the population, they also have a huge AIDS problem. So they need to sort out their priorities first. I believe I heard that they will be the biggest consumers of fossil fuels within 20yrs, but that doesnt mean they will be an economic powerhouse. Whenever I ask my indian friends about the govt there they tell me its so bad cos of all the different parties adn none are really for the people, just for themselves.

India and China will be the new powerhouses, economically and eventually military, the US like Britain will try to pathetically hold on but the inevitable strength of sheer population of the new superpowers, will become evident

I do not believe teh society supports an capitalist mood like America or China. Much business is going to India but only for one reason and that never helped Mexico. Once the skills are learned thos american companies need to be eliminated and Indian companies need to be started than the ball will roll.

maybe, but upto now, the money is spread among the top few, ther is still a average growing middle class. it does not matter if the 1% constitute 90% of economy

no, the majority of the people live way below the poverty line. the government knows about indentured slavery and the caste system is still in place.
