World - 8.83 deaths/1,000 population (2003 est.)
6,540,228,952 people currently living in the world.

So after a little calculation...

8.83/1000 = 0.00883
0.00883 x 6,540,228,952 = 57,750,222 per year
57,750,222/365 = 158,220

***158,220 deaths per day.***
Looks like the estimate that KC found was nearly correct.

A RATE is a RATE. It doesn't matter if it is stated daily, weekly, or annually. A NUMBER is quite variable. The NUMBER of people who die each day is roughly 1/365 of the NUMBER who die yearly.
