Of course!!! Unless you like the potential of someone going in to your computer and browsing around. Or conducting bad deeds with your Internet address and possible your check card.
It's realativly easy, just log in to the router, (typically http://192.168.227.1) and set up a encryption method and key. Then use the key on all computers accessing through the router.
Security Security Security!!!

2wire routers have either 64 or 128 bit wireless encryption enabled by default right out of the box. You can find in on the sticker on the bottom. Unless yours for some reason is not enabled, anyone can connect to your wireless signal. You can access the web gui by typing the routers default IP address 192.168.0.1 into your web browser, and go to the wireless settings link to ensure the security encryption is enabled. If not, you can enable it by choosing the corresponding radio button, and click save. Just make sure you assign the WEP key on the sticker from the bottom to your wireless card.

If you could log into your wireless router (call SBC to get the ip address) by entering the ip address for your router in the address filed in your web browser and enter the password. If you have not set a password, use the default password, if you don't know what it is, check the box or call the manufactuer.
Next add WEP encryption and a password and you are set.

If you are using that router the WEP security should be automatically enabled. If when you connected using the wireless you had to insert the WEP key (Which is printed on a label on the bottom of the router) then it should be reasonably safe.

Yeah, if you are using encrytion that will keep out the casual user who finds your network.
If you add MAC address control you can limit access to just your machines even if they can crack your encryption.
